
New course to boost interest in gastronomy
For those passionate about cooking, who enjoy selecting the best products, searching for the ideal recipe for a special occasion, or who want to master cooking techniques for everyday use, the Basque Culinary Center, through its space for gastronomy enthusiasts, BCC Culinary Club, is offering a new Advanced Cooking Course. Cooking and culinary culture have increasingly become a passion for many, which is why the Faculty of Gastronomic Sciences at the Basque Culinary Center now offers the opportunity to learn through an innovative methodology, cooking in a unique environment, gaining new knowledge, and improving professional cooking techniques with a global perspective.
Enrollment for this new course, which will begin on January 10, 2025, is already open. No prior culinary knowledge is required—just a passion for cooking. The course will offer only 16 spots and will last three months. It will include seven in-person sessions—Fridays from 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM, and Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 1:30 PM—and six online classes, each 1.5 hours long—Wednesdays from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM. Participants will learn to prepare traditional recipes as well as dishes for special occasions. They will receive knowledge about food pairing, extra tips on food preservation and nutritional benefits, sessions on the importance of seasonality in products, and will learn to present or decorate dishes creatively. They will also discover the latest trends in gastronomy, thanks to the guidance of professionals who will teach this new course using the “learning by doing” methodology.
Extensive program of activities
This course is part of a broader range of activities offered by the Basque Culinary Center for both young people and adults who are passionate about gastronomy. For example, for the fall of 2024, courses, workshops, and seminars have already been scheduled, allowing people of all ages to enjoy cooking in the facilities of the Faculty of Gastronomic Sciences. Among other things, they will learn about rice dishes, grills, pintxos, grandmother’s recipes, international cuisine, and even discover the authentic flavors of Basque Country dishes.
